11.13.09 Buffet Hotel will be available December 8th! A brand new studio album, named for an old colonial era train station/hotel Jimmy ran across in Timbuktu, Mali during a trip to the "Festival In The Desert," will feature Summerzcool, A Lot To Drink About, Surfing In a Hurricane and 9 other new songs! The title track has a strong West African influence and was conceived during that same trip to Mali for the music festival. "It was one of the best musical experiences of my life," said Jimmy. The Buffet Hotel was the venue for the music scene that exploded in Mali after its independence in 1960. In addition to the Coral Reefer Band, the album also includes guest artists Sonny Landreth, Jake Shimabukuro, Cedric Burnside, Steve "Lightnin'" Malcome and Toumani Diabate. Produced by Mike Utley and Mac McAnally, the release also features a 24-page booklet with lyrics, stories behind the song, and how Jimmy went to West Africa looking for stories, and returned with an album. Back in May, Jimmy Buffett laid three tracks for the video game “Rock Band” for the Playstation and Xbox platforms. Well now you can get two of them for Rock Band on your Nintendo Wii!

Harmonix and MTV Games announced today the addition of six new tracks to the Rock Band Music Store catalog of downloadable content for the Wii.

The line up includes “March of the Pigs” and “The Collector” from industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails, “I Fought the Law” from English punk rock band the Clash and “Rockaway Beach” from the infamous punk rock band Ramones. The offering also features two exclusive 2008 Rock Band re-recordings of “Margaritaville” and “Volcano” from singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett.

Wii fans can expect a rollout of the previously released downloadable content every week until the entire back catalogue of more than 500 songs is available. In addition, the regularly scheduled future DLC releases for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 will also be available for Rock Band 2 Wii owners starting in February.
Download the songs by going to the in-game Rock Band Music Store. Tracks cost 200 Wii points each ($2.00). You must purchase Wii points via the Wii Shop Channel.

Jimmy has posted a Christmas message at Margaritaville.com from Aboard the Continental Drifter III in St Barths:

Good Morning all and Merry Christmas. I am up early waiting for sunrise and the dawn patrol to my surf beach. The line that obviously comes to me now is “these days I am up about the time I used to go to bed” … There are many thoughts that could pour out of my head this morning, considering the years I have piled up here on the planet, but I will only put down one here. 62 years ago at this moment (counting the time change from St. Barth to Pascagoula), I was 2hrs and 21 minutes old. That in itself seems miraculous. I hope you have a miraculous moment today as well. Still rockin’ in the free world.

January

• Jimmy’s sister Lucy “Lulu” releases cookbook: “Crazy Sista Cooking”
• Jimmy plays a charity benefit show in Hong Kong
• In addition to Hong Kong show, Jimmy performs private show in Singapore and performs for troops aboard the USS Harry Truman (right)

February

• February 4th was the 7 year anniversary of Jimmy getting ejected from Miami Heat game
• The crew of the space shuttle Atlantis prepares for spacewalk by listening to Buffett’s “Oysters and Pearls”
• It’s reported that a Michigan company would begin making chips and salsa for Jimmy’s Margaritaville Foods
• In mid-February the annual trickle of tour dates begin to leak out, followed by the official tour announcements by the end of the month
• Harrison Ford reveals in an interview with Barbara Walters that he got his ear pierced after a lunchtime birthday celebration with Jimmy and the late Ed Bradley
• It’s announced that Buffett would build a new restaurant in Waikiki, Hawaii called “Jimmy Buffett’s At The Beachcomber”

March

• March 17th marked the 30 year anniversary of the release of “Son Of A Son Of A Sailor”
